7 - 20 march 2008
exhibition of Finnish residential architecture in the Helsinki Region
organisers: design factory, Embassy of Finland, Museum of Finnish Architecture
exclusive partner: Ruukki Slovakia, s.r.o.

The City Home exhibition presents examples of the regional architecture, which is created by new buildings development and conversion of existing buildings. In Finland it is very popular to use formerly non-residential premises - empty attics, warehouse and storage spaces for housing. The new homes defined by old structures and forms are personal exceptions to the monotonous formulas of industrialized housing development, typical for the Helsinki region. Finnish architects are focusing on connection with nature resulting in growing need for small scale and contact with the ground.

The persisting connection between architecture and nature is illustrated by 21 projects and 6 models. The exhibition selection was part of the Venice Biennale of Architecture in 2007.
